Last week, Englewood witnessed the power of opportunity, preparation, and community in action. The Englewood Shared Renewables (ESR) Solar Training Program proudly celebrated the graduation of its latest cohort—an inspiring group of emerging solar professionals ready to step into the rapidly growing clean-energy sector.
This year’s cohort was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when education, industry partnership, and community support align with intention.
A Cohort That Showed Up & Showed Out
92% (11 out of 12) of our cohort successfully completed the training, demonstrating exceptional commitment to mastering solar technology fundamentals, hands-on installation skills, and job-readiness competencies.
The cohort also completed the nationally recognized PVA (Photovoltaic Associate) exam, with official results currently pending. This is another milestone that positions them for industry-recognized credentials and higher-wage opportunities.
Even before graduation night, the impact was already visible:
One graduate has officially been hired,
Several have begun interviewing with partner companies, and
Multiple job offers have already been extended.
This momentum is just the beginning of a new pathway to economic mobility for Englewood residents.
An Evening of Celebration, Connection & Career Opportunity
Industry Night brought together employers, workforce partners, and graduates for a meaningful exchange of talent, vision, and opportunity. Representatives from leading companies—including Hire360, Knoblesdorff, H&T Contractors, A&R Roofing, Harold Washington College, Common Energy, and Live Wire Electrical Systems—were on-site to meet the graduates, discuss career pathways, and share insight on working in the renewable-energy sector.
These employers play a pivotal role in ensuring that local training leads to real employment and long-term impact. Their presence underscored a shared commitment to building an inclusive, future-ready clean energy workforce right here in Chicago.
Guests enjoyed delicious food provided by Out of the Box Catering, adding warmth and hospitality to an evening filled with achievement and inspiration.
The Evolve Foundation: Empowering the Whole Student
This year's success was amplified by the vital support of The Evolve Foundation, which delivered comprehensive wraparound services that helped ensure participants could fully commit to their training.
Evolve provided:
Life skills enrichment
Barrier-reduction supports
Workforce readiness
Job placement assistance
Their partnership helped remove obstacles that too often stand between community members and career-advancing opportunities. With Evolve’s involvement, participants not only gained technical knowledge—they gained confidence, stability, and a support system.
A Community Moving Toward a Brighter, Greener Future
The ESR Solar Training Cohort represents more than a successful graduation—it symbolizes Englewood’s commitment to leading the clean-energy future. Each graduate is now part of a growing, skilled workforce positioned to access high-demand jobs while helping build sustainable energy solutions for generations to come.
As these new solar professionals step into interviews, job placements, and new chapters in their careers, they carry forward the hope and momentum of this transformational program.
Congratulations to the graduates and thank you to all the partners who made this year possible!
Together, we shine brighter.
